Name of project- Lakshmi Narayan Temple

About the heritage monument-
Nagpur has various heritage sites which are less known to the subjects, Lakshmi Narayan Temple is one such structure having a heritage significance. Located in the core of the city in the busy lanes of Itwari. The temple complex is a private property consisting of two large and two small temples. The deities worshipped are Lakshmi Narayan, Shiva, Ganesha and Hanumana with Lakshmi Narayan being the main subject of worship. The temple is about 300 years old and has experienced several changes over the years.
The temple is currently uder the ownership of Mr. Govindrao Patrale. The charge of the temple was given to Mr. Gapatrao Patrale, the grandfather of the current owner, by the very first owner Mr. Badkas. In the 1880- 1890 A.D. the temple complex was not under supervision for several years. To restore the significance of the temple, a meeting was conducted by Mr. Badkas with the powerful authorities at that time, namely Bapurao Kinkhede, Dr. Cholkar and Dilwale. In this meeting they requested Mr. Ganpatrao Patrale to look after the temple.

The studio aim to re-imagine the character of a selected historic precinct in the 10 day long workshop (10th May 2019-19th May 2019) which include the documentation, surveys, architectural research program lead under the expertise of conservation architect, where student participants try to develop the character which used to exist in past.

About the Studio -
The studio aim to document the undocumented, the workshop was held as a 10 day (10th May 2019-19th May 2019) long documentation program lead under the expertise of conservation architect, where student participants aim in documenting the unlisted, undocumented heritage properties majority of which are in private ownership and are unlisted as a significant heritage of city.
